Privacy policy

Crew-Start (crew-start.com) is provided by Affinity Ventures GP, an Oregon general partnership (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information Crew-Start handles, why, and the choices you have. Questions: admin@crew-start.com.
Who this covers
Crew-Start is used by service businesses (“customer companies”) and the people who work for them. A customer company controls the information it puts into Crew-Start about its own clients, staff and work, and we process that information on its behalf and on its instructions. If you are a client of a company that uses Crew-Start, please contact that company about your information.
Information we handle
- Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only in hashed form) and the companies and roles you belong to.
- Business information a customer company enters: for example its clients’ names, contact details and addresses, quotes, agreements, schedules, crew assignments, time records, pay and invoicing details.
- Activity records: a log of changes made in Crew-Start (who changed what, and when), kept so companies can see their own history.
- Technical information: basic logs from our hosting providers, such as IP address, browser type and the time of a request, used to keep the service running and secure.
Google user data
If a customer company connects a Google account, Crew-Start uses Google Calendar access only to create, update and remove the calendar events for the work that company schedules in Crew-Start (for example, putting a booked visit on a crew member’s calendar), and to read those calendars where needed to show availability. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train artificial-intelligence models.
Crew-Start’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we use information
- To provide Crew-Start: signing you in, showing each company its own information, and doing what its users ask (scheduling, sending quotes, texts and emails, and so on).
- To keep the service secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems.
- To contact you about your account or important changes to the service.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Service providers
We use carefully chosen providers to run Crew-Start, who process information only to provide their service to us:
- Vercel (hosting the application) and Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage), with data stored in the United States;
- Resend (sending email);
- services a customer company chooses to connect, such as Google Calendar, RingCentral (text messages) and QuickBooks (accounting).
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
Keeping information separate and secure
Each customer company’s information is kept separate from every other company’s by rules enforced in the database itself. Connections are encrypted, passwords are never stored in readable form, and access is limited to what each person’s role needs. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the information entrusted to us.
How long we keep information
We keep a customer company’s information for as long as it uses Crew-Start. When a company closes its account, we delete or anonymize its information within 90 days, except where we must keep something longer by law.
Your choices
- You can see and update your own account details in Crew-Start.
- You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information by emailing admin@crew-start.com. Where the information belongs to a customer company, we will work with that company on your request.
- A company that connected a Google account can disconnect it at any time, in Crew-Start or in the Google account’s security settings.
Children
Crew-Start is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell customer companies about significant changes before they take effect.
